Bringing Biophilic Luxury to Caramá by Wolfgang Puck in Las Vegas
How Elevated Greenery Transformed One of Las Vegas’ Newest Culinary Destinations
When it comes to refining hospitality spaces in Las Vegas, greenery isn’t just decoration—it’s a design language. At Caramá by Wolfgang Puck, located in the heart of one of the world’s most competitive hospitality markets, the design team envisioned an atmosphere that felt warm, intimate, and alive. But with the intensity of Vegas hospitality operations, traditional live plants weren’t an option. UpScapers – Landscape, Elevated partnered with Wolfgang Puck and designer Denis Frison to engineer a custom biophilic installation that complements the culinary experience while embodying the sophistication expected from a world‑class chef‑driven venue. Why Biophilic Design Matters in Luxury Hospitality
In fine‑dining and high‑touch venues, the environment shapes the experience as much as the menu. Biophilic elements—when executed with restraint, texture, and intention—can:- Bring warmth and depth to contemporary architectural lines
- Create intimate, enveloping zones within larger spaces
- Enhance guest comfort and encourage longer stays
- Serve as a signature design cue that reinforces the brand identity
But here’s the truth: Las Vegas is a demanding environment for greenery. Long operating hours, dramatic lighting conditions, and constant service flow require greenery that is both luxurious and low‑maintenance. This made Caramá the perfect example of how engineered biophilic systems can elevate hospitality without sacrificing practicality.
The greenery needed to feel curated, not themed.
The Challenge Behind the Beauty
Designing for Caramá required solving for several key constraints:1. A Sophisticated Brand Standard
Caramá’s clientele expects refinement—nothing could appear generic, cheap, or overly decorated. The greenery needed to feel curated, not themed.
2. The Realities of Las Vegas Operations
With constant service, changing lighting conditions, and high guest turnover, greenery had to maintain its premium look at all times—day or night.3. Precision Around Finishes
The creative direction called for an “Organic Finish”—a palette that looks effortless but requires meticulous control of tone, texture, and density.4. A Chef‑and Designer‑Led Vision
The greenery had to align with the culinary experience and the broader interior architecture—supporting the design, not overshadowing it.The Solution: A Tailored Biophilic Concept for Caramá
UpScapers created a custom greenery strategy centered on subtlety, craftsmanship, and integration.Subtle Layering, Not Overload
Greenery was placed intentionally to:- Soften architectural transitions
- Frame and enhance sightlines
- Add intimacy without crowding the visual field
- Complement—not compete with—the materials palette
The result is a space that feels naturally lush without becoming visually heavy.
Organic, Textural Planting Language
Instead of rigid repetition or trend‑driven silhouettes, plant forms were selected to evoke:- Natural movement
- Soft layering
- Organic complexity
This created a sophisticated, timeless feel that fits seamlessly within luxury Las Vegas hospitality design.
High‑Performance Greenery Engineered for Hospitality
To achieve a premium organic finish that lasts, UpScapers used advanced biophilic components:- UV‑stable, interior‑rated foliage that maintains color and form under strong hospitality lighting
- Precision mounting and integration details that blend seamlessly with millwork, stonework, and architectural elements
- Low‑maintenance systems that require minimal staff attention
The result is a greenery installation that looks fresh and vibrant with minimal intervention.
Close Collaboration with Wolfgang Puck & Denis Frison
This project succeeded because it was rooted in partnership.Wolfgang Puck’s team guided:
- Guest experience priorities
- Brand atmosphere
- How the space should feel throughout the full daily service cycle
Denis Frison ensured:
- Material balance
- Color harmony
- Integration with finishes such as stone, wood, metals, and upholstery
UpScapers translated these creative directives into a biophilic layer that reinforces the restaurant’s identity rather than decorating it.
